Connect Freesbe to n8n

n8n runs workflows on its cloud or on your own server. Freesbe’s community node gives it a Freesbe Trigger and a Freesbe node for actions. You need to be a Freesbe owner or admin to connect it, and able to install community nodes in n8n.

Install the Freesbe node

Install the n8n-nodes-freesbe community node. On self-hosted n8n, open Settings → Community nodes → Install, type n8n-nodes-freesbe and install it.

Connect it

  1. In Freesbe, open Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Automation and click Connect next to n8n.
  2. Copy the API key Freesbe shows. It starts with fsb-bot- and is only shown once.
  3. In n8n, add a Freesbe API credential and paste the key into API Key. Leave API URL as it is.
  4. Save. n8n checks the key with Freesbe.

Connecting makes an app with a bot called n8n, which posts your workflows’ messages under its own name.

Let the bot into your channels

  • Public channels: pick the channel in a node and the bot joins by itself.
  • Private channels and DMs: add n8n from the channel’s member list first.

Build a workflow: file a ticket when someone asks the bot

  1. Start with Freesbe Trigger on New mention of the bot.
  2. Add your help desk’s “Create ticket” node, with the message’s text and link.
  3. Add a Freesbe node to Send a message with the ticket number, using the trigger’s Reply to ID so it answers in the message’s thread.
  4. Activate the workflow. Now @n8n the printer is jammed again files a ticket.

Freesbe Trigger can start on any Freesbe event the bot can see, such as an edited message, a huddle starting or a transcript being ready. Freesbe sends each event the moment it happens.

See and stop what’s listening

Activating a workflow adds it under Triggers listening in Integrations → Automation. Click its bin to stop it, and deactivate the workflow in n8n too.

If something’s wrong

  • The credential test fails. Copy the key again, or click New API key in Freesbe and paste the new one. The old key stops working at once.
  • The trigger never fires. Check the bot is in the channel and the workflow is active. A self-hosted n8n must be reachable from the internet for Freesbe to send it events.
  • Stop everything: turn off or delete the n8n app in Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Apps.
