Ask Zabbix about your servers and get weekly reports

Once an admin has connected Zabbix (see Set up Zabbix alerts for your ops team), everyone in the alert channel can see what’s going on without opening Zabbix.

Open the channel’s pins: the Live problems board lists every open problem, worst first, with the host, how long it’s been open and who acknowledged it. It says All clear when nothing is open. It keeps itself current, so there’s nothing to refresh.

For the same list somewhere else, type /zabbix in any channel. Only you see the answer.

Check one host

Type /zabbix host and part of the host’s name, like /zabbix host db-01. You get its open problems and its key values from Zabbix: CPU, memory, disk space, uptime and whether it answers pings, with a button to open it in Zabbix.

If Freesbe says it needs Zabbix’s API, ask an admin to add Zabbix address and API token to the connection in Workspace settings → Integrations → Monitoring.

Ask a question

Type /zabbix ask and your question in your own words:

  • /zabbix ask which hosts had the most problems this week?
  • /zabbix ask how was CPU on web-02 today?
  • /zabbix ask what's been flapping since Monday?

Name the host when the question is about one: Freesbe then reads its values hour by hour as well as its problems. Say “today”, “this week” or “this month” to set how far back it looks (a week if you don’t). The answer comes from Zabbix’s data only, and says so when the data doesn’t answer it. Each question counts as one AI request.

Review the week

Type /zabbix report to post the last 7 days into the channel for everyone, or /zabbix report day for the last 24 hours. A report shows problems by severity, how many are still open, total problem time, the typical time to resolve, the noisiest problems and the busiest hosts.

To get one without asking, an admin can pick Every morning at 9:00 or Monday mornings at 9:00 under Reports in the connection’s settings. A weekly report on Monday morning makes a good start for the team’s ops review.
